Taking a deep breath at nightfall luxury camp, Queensland, Australia

Staying at Nightfall is a unique experience. It is a great place to connect with nature without giving up on luxury.

This is Luxury travel had the chance to spend two nights at Nightfall Luxury Camp in Queensland and enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Lamington National Park. The tents are amazing and luxurious, and the food is delicious and feels so divine. Nightfall is not just a holiday: It is a completely sensual experience. Read on for my review and practical tips.

Getting to Nightfall Luxury Camp in Austalia

Nightfall is located near Lamington National Park in Queensland. It takes about 2 hours to drive there from Brisbane, and 2.5 hours from Byron Bay. I came straight from Elements of Byron resort at Byron Bay and you can read my review of it here. The road is quite lovely, so the long drive didn’t bother me at all. I put Nightfall into my GPS and was easily directed up to the resort, so it was straightforward to get there. The road is good until about one kilometer from the Nightfall Camp when it becomes a dirt road. I didn’t have a four-wheel drive, and still had no problem with the road. However, if there is heavy rain before your arrival, some of the roads might become more difficult to pass with a regular car.

Check-in at Nightfall luxury camp

My trip was magical right from the start when two wallabies greeted me upon entering the properties!

Jaide got a small buggy and brought me and my bags up to my tent. She explained to me how to use the fireplace and the bathtubs, and made sure I was settled in and comfortable.

The Nightfall Camp

The luxury tents out in the wilderness of the National Park conveyed the true meaning of a stay with nature. The camp is composed of a central lounge area surrounded by the tents. The lush greenery and rocks surrounding the tents gave the entire camp a very refreshing and soothing feel.

The fact that the camp only houses four couples at a time ensured privacy, intimacy, and endless opportunity for lazing around. The Nightfall property is a stunning 100 hectares of land which is bordered by Lamington National Park and the Christmas creek. With a maximum of 8 guests at any time, that is over 10 hectares of land per guest! It’s mindblowing to be surrounded by that much wilderness.

What makes the camp truly special is the friendliness of Steven and Jaide. They are spectacular hosts and spend a lot of time making everyone feel welcome and seeing to everyone’s needs.

The Tents at Nightfall Luxury camp

The tents are genuinely stunning. They were so comfortable and luxurious that I felt like royalty. Although there is a primitive aura to the tents, with their close-to-nature architecture, everything about the tents screamed of luxury and comfort.

The king-sized bed, with its two duvets, promised comfort and sound sleep as soon as I laid my eyes on it. It met those expectations and felt great to sleep in. The tents have large windows that open up onto nature. It had an instant calming effect on me.

The fireplace rotates 360 degrees, ensuring that you can watch it from wherever you choose to relax in the room. It happened to be unexpectedly cold when I was there, with nighttime temperatures dropping to 3 degrees Celsius. It was so cold that I had to make sure the fireplace would not run out of wood in the middle of the night. I woke up every 4 hours to refill it, and I became quite proficient at fireplace management by the end of my stay. 😊

The fireplace was almost hypnotic. I would rotate it towards wherever I was sitting in the tent and could spend hours just watching it.

One of the most stunning features of the room is the two bathtubs. Filling the tub is an exciting experience that I will let you discover for yourself! The water from the Nightfall creek has been rated as some of the cleanest in the whole of Queensland and has therapeutic properties. The baths were stocked with stress-relieving soaking salts blended with essential oils, which had a genuinely divine effect on my muscles and helped me unwind. As I sank into the hot water, listening to the creek and other sounds of nature right outside the tent, I could literally feel all the built-up tension in my body melt away, replaced with comfort and peace.

What to do at Nightfall luxury camp?

I had big plans to hike all over the property, but as soon as I saw the tent, I felt like staying in. I was there at the beginning of winter, and the cold temperatures didn’t tempt me outside. The tent is so cozy and comfortable that it is hard to leave. After two days there doing not much at all, I wondered where my days went so quickly. I feel like this is the power of pure relaxation.

Staying at Nightfall comes with the possibility of a lot of adventurous and fun-filled hikes. There are options for everyone, no matter how outdoorsy they are, from a one-hour simple walk to a more intense 7-hour trek.  I went hiking with Steve one morning and loved the feel of cold air rushing through my hair as we ascended the trail. We had to cross the creek, jumping from stone to stone, which was fun.

The diversity of plants in Lamington National Park is quite impressive, and there are over 200 bird species. Platypus and koala can also be found there, but I was not lucky enough to see them on this trip.

Review of the Food at Nightfall luxury camp

Nightfall is an all-inclusive experience. All the food and drinks are included, and the attention to detail is stunning.

I was greeted in my room with a bottle of sparkling wine and countless snacks and appetizers. I love beers and was very happy to see their beer selection, with plenty of Australians craft beer options. Wine lovers will not be left behind, as there must have been at least 20 bottles of wine to choose from.

All the food offered there was locally produced, organic, and cooked on a campfire. It was highly nutritious and highly delectable. Each bite of excellent food rewarded my taste buds. The food was down-to-earth but luxurious, just like the campground.

The first dinner was in the lounge. It was an excellent opportunity to meet the other couple staying there and listen to their amazing stories. The dinner was three courses. The main course was a delicious rack of lamb cooked in the wood-fired oven and served with mashed potato and vegetables. Nothing was fancy, but it tasted so good.

Breakfast was served by the creek, which was such an awe-inspiring setting. What a pleasure to start the day with the water running and the birds singing.

The second night, we got a pizza delivered to our tent. It was the best pizza I have had while in Australia. It was, of course, cooked in their wood-fired oven. Steve told me that he slow-cooks the tomatoes for 1.5 hours in the oven before putting them on the pizza. Mouthwatering!

When to go to Nightfall luxury camp?

The experience you’ll have at Nightfall is dependent on the seasons.

In the summer, you might be able to swim in the creek and spend more time outdoors. Warm weather also allows you to keep the tent much more open and feel even closer to nature.

Winter can be cold if staying in a tent. On the plus side, you get to appreciate the fireplace that creates a warm and cozy atmosphere in the tent. It is a great time to burrow in with great food and good drinks.

Conclusion

Camping at Nightfall was everything that I could wish for, and I would highly recommend it to everyone visiting Australia. It is a unique experience for nature lovers and feels like a very grounded place.

It is not so much the location that is special, as there are many beautiful national parks around the world. What makes the place unique is the welcoming nature of the owners Steve and Jaide, the stunning tents, and the attention to all the luxurious details. I would love to revisit Nightfall in the summer.

Nightfall is a popular destination, and with only four tents, it’s essential to make sure you book a few months in advance. You can find more information and book a stay at https://nightfall.com.au/
