Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi — 54 villas on a 20-hectare Raa Atoll island, with a Niko Romito restaurant and a flagship villa on its own islet — is the Roman jeweller’s first island resort, now slated for 2027.
The Maldives opens more luxury resorts than any destination on earth, and after five trips there I read most announcements with a shrug. This one is different. Ranfushi — “Little Golden Island” in Dhivehi — will be Bulgari’s tenth hotel and only its second resort after Bali, which has held the top of its market for nearly two decades. No fashion house of this rank has ever built a Maldivian island from scratch.
One caveat up front: the date has moved. Slated first for 2025, then 2026, the official Bulgari Hotels site now says 2027. Treat every new-build island date as provisional until reservations actually open.

Why Raa Atoll Is the Interesting Choice
Raa is quieter than Baa or North Malé, but Joali has already proven the atoll sustains US$3,000-plus nightly rates. The private-islet Bulgari Villa is a straight play for the top of the market, where full-buyout residences are the current battleground. And the location puts guests near the channel dives and manta cleaning stations divers know this region for — with Baa Atoll’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Hanifaru Bay’s manta aggregations close by.

What I’d Do Until It Opens
If the pull is the diving rather than the jeweller, a liveaboard shows you more of these atolls than any single island can. I’ve dived the Maldives extensively by boat — my reviews of the White Pearl, the country’s biggest diving liveaboard, and the Scubaspa Yin on the Far North route cover the two ends of that spectrum. For a resort-plus-diving stay meanwhile, Maafushivaru in South Ari puts whale sharks on the doorstep. And for the long-haul leg, my Beond review tests the all-business-class airline into Malé.
Tip: seaplanes stop at sunset. If your flight lands in Malé in the evening, budget an airport-hotel night — expect Bulgari to sell a lounge-and-transfer package once bookings open.
Prices and How to Book
No rates published yet; on villa count, brand and Raa comparables, expect beach villas to open well north of US$3,000 a night. Reservations are not open — watch bulgarihotels.com.
