It is the hotel I recommend for the night before or after a liveaboard, and hotels here arrange your airport pickup, so logistics take care of themselves. The Seraya is the opposite proposition: leave the mainland behind entirely. It is a small island escape where the schedule is set by the tide and the sunset, with house-reef snorkeling steps from your room, an on-site dive center (Seraya Divers) running three-dive day trips into Komodo National Park as well as courses, and the kind of silence Labuan Bajo cannot offer. The catch is access: the resort runs two free shuttle boats a day — currently at 11:00 and 14:00, from the Kampung Ujung jetty just five minutes from the airport — taking about 45 minutes each way on the traditional wooden boat. Outside those times you can charter privately (a 15-minute speedboat option exists), but note the resort’s rules: boats run in daylight only, and if your flight is delayed more than 20 minutes, the scheduled boat leaves without you, so build in buffer. Times do change, so confirm the current schedule when booking. That is exactly why I say in my Seraya review that it is not the place for a one-night stay — but give it a few days before or after your cruise and it becomes the highlight of the trip.
